I’ll Dig to Reach the Stars
No pain, no gain.
And you must gain
and take up all the world.
You start real small
and grow real tall
till clouds around you swirl.
Reach for the sky,
the moon,
the stars,
reach for the far horizon.
Don’t go too far.
Don’t stay too close.
Don’t ever come back down
from that place you made,
you grew,
you found,
that place which is your home.
Gardens of gold,
of diamonds,
of fame.
Heart of supernova.
Soul of spiraled galaxy.
Endless mind of universe,
as far as eye can see.
And what of us
who cannot grow,
who cannot reach the skies.
The rolling dice fall good and easy,
but you must be small to rise.
The universe is kind to us,
gifting us,
helping us.
But there is no story
where there is no fight.
There is no struggle
where all is right,
Break to build.
Shatter to shape.
Destroy to make anew.
Because no one cares
when the average stay fine,
when the decent exist,
when a single gear works hard.
A gear must burst,
must halt the works,
or succeed where no other could.
But if I don’t exceed
because the bar is just right,
and I can’t reach the stars
cause I started too high,
if I can’t make my kingdom up in the sky,
then I’ll dig my way down.
For the stars are calling and the ground is soft.
